What are The Biggest Mistakes a Bodybuilder can Make?

[Q]  Vince, you must have made some mistakes along the way and I'm sure you see mistakes made by other people trying to build muscle.  Can you outline what the most common mistakes are so guys like me make sure they are avoided?


 

[A]  Marc,  there are many mistakes that I had made along the way, and I constantly see and here about the mistakes being made by people like yourself. 

Here is a list of what I think are some very important things that must be avoided in order to build muscle:

  • Trying to find "the" ultimate supplement
  • Reading and using training programs found in bodybuilding magazines (assuming you are training naturally)
  • Excessive alcohol consumption
  • Lack of consistency (workout, nutrition, sleep etc.)
  • Not getting enough sleep
  • Failing to increase the intensity of your workouts (no increasing weight)
  • Inefficient workouts (talking to other, staring in to the mirror etc.)
There are plenty of other things also, but I think that those are the most common, and the most important things to avoid.

I assume that your main goal is to learn how to build muscle fast and not how to get skinny fast, but many of you are actually encouraging weight loss as opposed to weight gain.  Too much weight training and not enough food will literally make it impossible to gain weight, and it's safe to say that if you are losing weight or seeing no results at all, it's time to step back and make some major changes.  Start to eat more food and train less, and I can almost guarantee that you will start seeing some great results.
