Hey Rob,

It may have been a very low quality protein bar...

Whey protein is one of the best sources of protein in terms of bioavailabilty. Some bars have casein protein, egg protein, whey, or a combination of each type.

To answer your last question, the best form of protein powder would be a whey protein isolate, as this form of protein is fast and very easy for the body to absorb.

As long as the protein you purchase is of decent quality, there isn't really a "bad" type of whey protein. Whey protein concentrate is not as powerful as isolate, but is much less expensive and has other benefits that isolate doesn't...

So, my trainer told me that the protein bars I eat (which have whey) are NOT bioavailable and that even though they have 31 grams of protein I am not getting most of it when I eat the bar. What forms of whey are best, and what forms are worst? - Rob
