How Much Trial and Error to Get Results?

[Q]  Vince, you were a hardgainer just like I am.  I was wondering how you came up with a formula that works for guys with our skinny builds?  I assume that there was lots of trial and error involved...

[A]  I actually got lucky and met a mentor.  He was an amateur bodybuilder who taught me pretty much everything that I needed to know.

This guy was a monster-about 220 pounds and 5% body fat 365 days a year.  He started showing me these classic training tips and programs, and before I knew it, I had built about 40lbs of rock solid muscle in a matter of months.  I never touched any steroids at all either.

Over the last few years I've modified the program by applying the theories I had learned at school, and from working as a trainer in the gym.  The training really helped because I was able to see what did and didn't work for many different types of people.

Building muscle really is fairly simple.  There really are only a few important elements that must be applied over time, and if you adhere to these important elements, there is no reason why trial and error are necessary.

With that being said, it's safe to say that some people have specific situation that require some modifications, but for the most part, building mass is not that hard for anyone that is willing to put in the time and effort.

Tip Of The Month

I assume that your main goal is to learn how to build muscle fast and not how to get skinny fast, but many of you are actually encouraging weight loss as opposed to weight gain.  Too much weight training and not enough food will literally make it impossible to gain weight, and it's safe to say that if you are losing weight or seeing no results at all, it's time to step back and make some major changes.  Start to eat more food and train less, and I can almost guarantee that you will start seeing some great results.
