Compilation of Weight Training Accidents

This video has some real classic weight lifting disasters.  Mostly bench press accidents, which seem to be the most common.  I'm curious as to the severity of the injuries some of these lifters sustained.  250 lbs. + falling on the sternum can't be good!

Remember to take the following in to consideration when lifting heavy weights (especially on the bench press):

  • Use a closed hand  grip  - A closed hand grip means that your thumb wraps around the barbell.  Using an open hand grip on any heavy pressing movements (chest press, shoulder press) is a recipe for disaster.

  • Make sure you spotter knows what he is doing! - Having a spotter is pointless if he is not paying attention.  His job is to catch the bar before it crushes your rib cage!

  • Communicate with your spotter - Make sure you spotter knows when to step in.  If you feel like you can't make the lift, make sure he knows.

Tip Of The Month

I assume that your main goal is to learn how to build muscle fast and not how to get skinny fast, but many of you are actually encouraging weight loss as opposed to weight gain.  Too much weight training and not enough food will literally make it impossible to gain weight, and it's safe to say that if you are losing weight or seeing no results at all, it's time to step back and make some major changes.  Start to eat more food and train less, and I can almost guarantee that you will start seeing some great results.
